By Bartolo Scandizzo We played in advance this morning from home with half hour early, arriving at the station in Melbourne 2 hours in advance, from Melbourne with a minute of advance … Thus began our day of transfer from Melbourne to Adelaide. A bit ‘cold and a little’ sleepy we get ready to face the day by train. Curiosity takes us! And here we are ready to embark luggage but … too heavy, lighten the weight and then the train show ticket for the control, take place … the seats, although a bit ‘dated, they are very welcoming … We’re finally out of the station and creaking and rocking and rubbing slowly the train begins to travel! lo The sky a little ‘cloudy hides an infinite blue sky as we get away from the city. Just outside the big city, the tracks stretch into a vast flat expanse and the eye sweeps over a single yellow space that is an immense field of grain that occasionally is interrupted by some green space where hundreds of sheep graze. Yes, because in Australia everything is infinitely large. Time passes slowly on this historical and old convoy, each in its place taken by her things and without any feeling of stress. It’s like being in another era when travel was something you dealt with the knowledge to live a great event. As the hours passed the sun becomes solemn and with its heat inflames the earth. In the distance it stands a few mountains, but it is something very fleeting that lasts little and then again cornfields. Time goes quiet today … a snack with beer and chips at the bar and then back in an armchair napping, playing, fantasizing. Outside, the landscape is always the same with harvested wheat fields and the horizon is a flat line. After 9 hours, the smooth ride comes to an end and we rested and recharged, we are ready. The landscape is a bit ‘changed and you see hills covered with black locust trees in addition to the dry yellow grass. Here are the first housing, which is interspersed with acacia forests with cows and horses grazing. And here is the famous vineyards of Adelaide.
